Koko’s doing great!

Just got a note from the family that adopted Coco (Koko) the umbrella cockatoo from us. It is so goo to hear,
Hi Jean!
Sorry it’s taken me so long to update you on Koko. She is doing really well. At this point I have had the pleasure of sharing my home with her since the end of May and things are going very well. She was sooooo loud for the first couple of weeks definitely voicing her demand for attention. Of course, we had to start the training to teach her that would not always get what she wanted. She still does it a little but that’s a bird for ya!

Hi Jean!
Sorry it’s taken me so long to update you on Koko. She is doing really well. At this point I have had the pleasure of sharing my home with her since the end of May and things are going very well. I have since had a complete bloodwork up done on her and she is as healthy as she could be. Negative on polyoma, chlamydia, and beak and feather disease. All of her bloodwork levels were within the normal range too. No liver or kidney issues detected, etc.
We have her on a pellet diet of Zupreem fruit flavor and she gets treats of course. Almonds are her favorite and bananas.
She has become a feather picker as she doesn’t feel she gets enough attention. But it seems to come and go in waves which is probably an indicator of our schedules. Ironically, she has decided that my husband is best thing that ever happened to her! And my husband doesn’t even know what to do with her! She still loves me and loves my attention, but she dances and talks as soon as she sees him. I’m lucky if I get hissed at! Oh well, at least she still lets me cuddle with her. She really is a very very sweet bird. Even when she gets a little testy she is very easy to manage. She does great with the dogs and is so much more interactive than my last bird and I really do like that. I hope someday to teach her some tricks. Right now I’m working on the words, “kiss kiss – love love” and “night night”.
We are very happy to have her.
Thank you for taking her in and allowing us to pickup where you left off.
