These two baby screech owls were taken to Blackland Prairie Raptor Center. The temptation is to make cute pets out of these little guys but that is not what we are about! These two were re-nested so their mother can return to them for care. Nature is always the best.
Every year I get baby birds brought to me that do NOT need to be rescued. Put nestling back in the nest. Once they Fledge, that is jump out of the nest to learn to fly, just put them in a bush out of harms way. The parent are near by and will watch over their babies to protect and feed them. Also it is a myth about parents rejecting their babies if you touch the baby. If the baby bird is on the road or sidewalk, pick it up, put it in a bush, out of harms way. THEN WALK AWAY.
