A full week ago I got a call from a lady that spotted a great blue heron standing in the community pond. It was tangled in fishing line and even had a fish as part of the tangle. The neighborhood managers, local police, local animal control and even the TPWD game wardens have refused, either directly or by being non responsive to capture this bird!! Obviously a week ago, cutting off the fishing line and releasing was the proper plan. Now after a week in August Texas Heat, and no food, it’s dying!
It was a different woman calling this morning, as she and her husband tried to find help for this bird. Once captured and line cut off, there are rehabbers that have agreed to take it to feed and hydrate. I am so angry and disappointed that the Prosper Texas, which is in Collin and Denton counties, 4 game wardens have not found the time in a week to free this bird.
