My new grumpy girl Sunny is a Ring Neck Parakeet that had her beak bitten off in April 2020. She is relatively young with a long life span of up to 50 years possible. Loss of her upper beak is very debilitating. So I have decided to try to find a way to get her a new beak.
Issue number one. This is seriously, thousands, expensive and I don’t have any money. Solution, get it done for free, or as close to that as possible.
Issue number two. How do you make a beak? This just required a few hours of googling and reading to learn all the places in the world that prosthetic work has been done and of that, how many places have done bird beaks. The best read I had was of a toucan and an eagle that had dmaged their beaks and had them replace. Amazing and very encouraging.
The toucan was in Rio, Brazil.
