We will be participating in the Hot Dog Trot, in Weatherford, Texas on august 14th. We will have some of our birds with us. We hope to train an African gray to be a pet therapy bird and exposure to crowds is part of the training.
We have two african grays, from different places, about 1 year old. And it is a match made in heaven. They are Saphira and Eragon.

He, Eragon, has plucked his chest almost bare. Since he arrived Saphira, the female has started to scratch. They both go to the vet next week for skin scrapings and if need be treatment. I think I saw mites on a feather he dropped when he first arrive. The microscope will be definitive.
They are talking a little and eating a lot. Eragon has jumped off his cage and walked to me. He knows “step up”, and did. Neither of them bite. They are a real pleasure to be around.
