Today I brought home Sunny, a 17 year old Indian Ring Neck Parakeet, female. In April of 2020 Sunny was attacked by a parrot that proceeded to bite her beak off. As you can see from the picture it has regrown a little but she is still handicapped by this deformity.
I have met Sunny twice, the second time was today when I brought her home. She has a history of being a sweet affectionate bird that has become less affable in the past year. So many things have changed in her life, so a change in her attitude is perfectly reasonable. She is on a special chop diet, that I will research and duplicate. But today I hung some big fat millet sprig by her perch and she has been picking at it.
Sunday is the first full day in her new home. She still lunges to bite when I come too close but now she is spend more time watching me. She eats well and I gave her tangerines cut up in her dish. I found her weakness!! She has a sweet tooth! I will not hesitate to bribe her to improve her social behavior.
