I have never, nor do I plan to ever kiss a chicken but the CDC has found it necessary to tell people to stop kissing chickens. I do have a strong aversion to people kissing their parrots or letting them eat out of their mouth. One young man had a Goffin Cockatoo and this bird loved him and would share food right out of the man mouth. Once, no, correction twice, that bird bit the man’s mouth enough to require immediate medical attention. The man sat down next to a young woman, and pheromones being what they are, made the female Goffin jealous and so she corrected her “mate” by ripping his lip open.
This is a great article about not kissing your chicken, and salmonella poisoning. The author mentioned that the CDC has been warning people for a year! Great Article, shocking in the statistics and a worthy read. She references poultry but I assure you that includes songbird.

“Currently, there are Salmonella outbreaks reported in 43 states, which, as of May 20th, has resulted in 163 illnesses and 34 hospitalizations. “You can get sick from touching your backyard poultry or anything in their environment and then touching your mouth or food, and swallowing Salmonella germs,” the CDC explains in their investigation notice. And yes, “touching” includes kissing or cuddling your poultry.”
