It has been an extremely hard time lately. We rescued 35 parrots, yesterday. It was my first time actually going in to the deplorable facility and removing birds. Because of roof damaging some time i the past there were no lights, and no windows. Other than one tiny night light all 35 were in the dark, for who knows how long. We have them all in quarantine now. De from Wings of Love took 10 big birds. I will add her note. Pray for us and our charges.
From De at Bird Haven, Wings of Love..
“Jean I’m honestly not sure how some of these birds are still alive.
Three Eclectus females are the worse. the one with the club feet… has to lay down all the time. She was found inside the nextbox that had about 40 eggs inside it. Another Eclectus has had a swollen crop since I first laid eyes on her. I’m not sure… possibly an impaction. Third Eclectus is the one whose beak was so badly overgrown. The top is at least 1.5″ too long.. and it is growing into a split that has been created into the bottom beak that is at least 3/4″ too long. The split is at least 1/2 ” long in the lower beak. Terrible condition. I made it through without breaking down. I even made it home without breaking down. However when I started moving them into their new cages.. and actually seeing them well for the first time… I broke down…. just couldn’t be strong anymore. 🙁
I can’t help but think about the 3 we left behind.”
