A few minutes ago a dear friend and fellow rehabber called me to say, all the things she wished she to say, to her callers. We take in all nature of living and some dying animals. These animals are wild! They are not used to people being up close and touching them. Stress can kill some of these animals. Our permits are predicated on the understanding that we are going to return these animals to the wild.
So why would we want to have people come around where we are treating these animals, some of which are hours old! We are not a zoo, a children’s petting area, we are wild life animal rehabbers. Please tell the public that once they bring us an animal they will never see it again. The animals are not pets and find being stared at by humans, is stressful.
Actually I feel better. I got that off my chest. Any comments?
